Forest School
Based on a Scandinavian idea, Forest School involves children and young people working with a qualified Forest School leader on a frequent regular basis throughout the year in a local woodland setting.
They follow their usual curriculum, but in an outdoor context, using learning and teaching strategies which raise self-esteem, develop confidence, independence and language and communication skills. The Forest School planning links themes looked at in the classroom to the woodland. The Forest School sessions are not an ‘add-on’ but are part of the children’s learning experiences, part of their school week.
The qualified leaders within the school are:
Mr. Haycock Foundation stage
Mrs. Dawes Key Stage 1 co-ordinator
Miss Walker Upper Key Stage 2
The staff will be leading sessions throughout the school to ensure all pupils have an opportunity to participate in Forest School learning.
