Sports Premium 2018-19

From September 2013, all schools have received additional money
from the government to support sport in school in the form of a Sports Premium
Grant.

St Giles CE Primary School received £18,700 for the last academic year which will was used to continue the great work already done and embed the high quality teaching.  During this year we were able to achieve School Games Gold award as a result of increased participation.
This academic year, we will receive approximately the same as last year (we are currently awaiting the final figure). The money will be used to increase the engagement of all pupils in physical activity through a combination of extended school activities, lunchtime clubs, encouraging the use of scooters and bikes to and from school, and to support the cost for all children in school to participate in the Shrewsbury Half Marathon event.  We will also increase confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff through staff meetings for Teachers, TA’s and midday supervisors.  It will also enable a Change for Life programme to be run during lunchtime and introduce Young Sports Leaders to our school. The cost of some transport and supply cover to release staff to take children to a wider range of local sports competitions, as well as extra trained swimming teachers will also come from this funding.

The school and governors are committed to providing access to high quality teaching for all pupils and increased opportunities to compete at varying levels. Please see attached Impact Statement.
