St Giles’ Cultural Diversity Week 2021: Exploring Francophone countries worldwide
Did you know that Saturday 20th March was this year’s International Francophone day? This is an annual celebration of French language and French culture in all its diversity and it is celebrated by all 77 french speaking countries in the world.
As French is the second language taught at St Giles’, we celebrated our cultural diversity week in school this year by learning more about where French is spoken around the globe. Each class in school was assigned a different French speaking country (or overseas French department) to discover. The children have created fact files about their focus country and have enjoyed investigating its art, craft, music and cuisine.
A selection of the work is available to view using the following link: https://sway.office.com/XpFxnKxMFYrdN73H?ref=Link
We hope all of our children have enjoyed this little delve into another country at a time when none of us are able to travel much in reality. We also hope that the week has raised the children’s interest in French and the fact that it is spoken across the globe in a diverse set of countries.
