Book Buzz!

The children have been busy completing their voting slips (nothing to do with Boris or Jeremy!) to choose the shortlist for our Book Buzz Book Award.  The points have been counted and the shortlist selected; the chosen books will be announced at our launch event at 3pm on Monday 7th January.

Multiple copies of the titles will be bought (and we have already reserved the titles with our local libraries).  To run alongside the reading of the books, we would love to organise other events with a view to inspiring children to become life-long readers.  Such events could include illustrator workshops, storytellers, song-writing workshops, author visits, poetry-writing and making comic books.  But all of this comes at a cost…

As a result, we have set up a crowd-funding website to kindly ask for your donations towards St Giles’ Book Buzz.  We would be so grateful if you feel able to donate anything between £1 and £20; all donations will go towards the Book Buzz books and activities.  Please make your donation via  Please feel free to share this link on any social media platforms you may use.

If you would prefer to help in another way, perhaps by donating chosen titles, or helping out at some of the in-school events, please talk to your child’s class teacher.  You are always very welcome!

Once again, thank you for your support.  We look forward to sharing the Book Buzz Book Award with you next term.

Thanks to all the parents who volunteered – the children were so enthusiastic about learning new languages and different countries and have been using their new words around school since.

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games GOLD Award again! This is for the 2018/19 academic year.

We are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school including the commitment from staff and children in order to attend these events has been rewarded again this year.

Reading Challenge!

Our whole school have recently took part in a ‘ready steady read’ challenge with Usborne books, raising money for books to be purchased for their classes and for Hope House. Well done to everyone!
